  1. IconAuthor Video For Windows Driver Release Notes

  4. IconAuthor's Video for Windows driver allows you to use the IconAuthor
  5. video icons to load and play Video for Windows (AVI) files.  This
  6. driver (IAMCIAVI.DRV) is based on Microsoft's MCI driver for Video
  7. for Windows.  VIdeo for WIndows must be installed on the system
  8. to use the IconAuthor Video for Windows driver.

  10. Video for Windows and ActionMedia II 
  11. ************************************

  13. IconAuthor has two drivers that can be used with the Intel ActionMedia II
  14. board.  These drivers are based on MCI drivers that support the
  15. ActionMedia II board.  One MCI driver is the Intel DVI Multimedia driver
  16. for Windows.  The other is the Video for Windows MCI driver used with the
  17. Intel INDEO Video driver (INDEO Codec).

  19. The preferred method is to use Video for Windows with Intel's
  20. Indeo Video Driver.

  22. These release notes cover the use of IconAuthor's Video for
  23. Windows driver.

  25. INSTALLATION

  28. To install the IconAuthor Video for Windows
  29. driver do the following:
  30.  
  31. 1.  Follow installation instructions that came with
  32. Video for Windows.  Be sure that the software CODEC
  33. (compressor/decompressor) matches your hardware
  34. configuration such as Indeo for Intel DVI hardware,
  35. Soft 486 for a 486 CPU, etc.
  36.  
  37. NOTE:  If a ActionMedia II board is installed and you
  38. want to use it with Video for Windows you can install the
  39. Intel Indeo Video MCI driver.  During the installation select
  40. the Hardware first, Software next option.

  42. 2. During the IconAuthor installation,
  43. select Digital Video drivers and select Video for Windows
  44. from the list of drivers.
  45.  
  46. 3. Run IconAuthor.
  47.  
  48. 4. Select Setup Video from the Options menu.
  49. Select Video for Windows as the video player.  Select
  50. Video for Windows for the video port.

  52. 5. Select Setup Overlay from the Options menu.
  53. Select Video for Windows as the overlay device.

  57. NEW DIGITAL VIDEO FEATURE

  60. We have added new functions to the V:Overlay icon
  61. to support digital video.
  62.  
  63. **The "Source" command for the V:Overlay icon is used to
  64. define a digital video file as a source.
  65.  
  66. The following example places the file wndsurf1.avi
  67. in video window 1  (MAX 1 WINDOW).

  108. not support overlay on a specific color.  It may or may not be

  140. KNOWN BUGS
  141. **********
  142. 1. Video will not play in a full size window when Intel Indeo
  143. hardware is installed.  Work around this by using the Window icon.
  144. AimTech is working with Microsoft and Intel to confirm the source
  145. of the bug.

  147. 2. Intel Indeo images do not move when the IconAuthor window
  148. is moved.  AimTech is working with Microsoft and Intel to
  149. confirm the source of the bug.

  151. 3. Video is not correctly aligned when the Window icon is used.
